Ingredients
Seer fish / Prawns - 200 gm
Green chilli - 3 slit
Curry leaves
Chopped ginger - 1 tsp
Chopped garlic - 1 tsp
Chilly powder - 1/2 tsp
Onion sliced - 2 small
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Salt
Coconut oil - 1 cup
Roasted Rice flour - 2 cups
For Coconut paste
Grated coconut - 2 cups
Shallots - 5
Fennel seeds - 1 tsp
Method of Preparation
Make a paste with 3, 4 cups of grated coconut, shallots and fennel seeds and kept it aside. Heat a pan, add water with enough salt and let it boil. As the water starts to boil, add the roasted rice powder and make a dough. Add the coconut paste to the dough. Mix the ingredients, knead it well to make a ball and keep it aside. Now take some turmeric powder, chilli powder and salt to make a paste. Spread this paste over the fish pieces. Take another pan and heat some oil and fry the fish. Heat some oil in another pan. Saute chopped big onion, ginger, garlic and green chillies. add some curry leaves to it. Keep sauting in low flame. Remove bones from the fried fish and crumble the flesh. Add this to the sauted ingredients and mix gently. Add coconut paste and mix well. Add some oil and salt, if required. Take a piece of plantain leaf and spread a small amount of dough on it. Put some fish mix on the spread dough. Now place another spread dough over the fish mix. Seal the edges by patting gently. Now place the steamer on the stove and boil water. put in the prepared pathiris and steam till cooked. Serve hot.
