Every year, the great backwaters of Kerala bear witness to one of the most incredible sights - the Champions Boat League. It's truly a visual treat to watch the magnificent snake boats (Chundan Vallom) course through the emerald backwaters creating an aura of zest and zeal.
Nehru Trophy Boat Race 2022
The Nehru Trophy Boat Race is among the premier snake boat races in Kerala. People gather in large numbers to watch nearly 100 ft long boats compete against each other to the tune of old boat songs. Punnamada Lake is the location for the race where the contestants line up to battle it out.
Champions Boat League Curtain Raiser
The second edition of the Champions Boat League (CBL) which features Kerala’s iconic snake boats will be held from September 4 to November 26 in 12 venues across five districts in Kerala. Watch the curtain-raiser held on July 2nd.
Karuvatta Boat Race
Karuvatta Boat Race is held in the leading canal near the Thottapally spillway at Karuvatta in Alappuzha district. Crowds, locals and tourists alike, gather around to watch these 100 ft boats compete against each other with much fervor. As the onlookers anxiously wait for the boats to glide through the backwaters, a colorful water parade precedes the race.
Pulinkunnu Boat Race
Pulinkunnu river, which is the Pamba river itself, is the venue of the Pulinkunnu Boat Race in Alappuzha district. The race is conducted every year to commemorate the visit of Mr Rajiv Gandhi, the then Prime Minister of India, to Kuttanad.
Piravom Boat Race
Nadubhagom Chundan, rowed by NCDC Boat Club won the celebrated Piravom Boat Race crossing the finishing line in 4 minutes and 14.48 seconds. Graced by thousands of people from all walks of life, Piravom Boat Race held on the 1st of October 2022 in the Muvattupuzha River at Piravom in Ernakulam district was a spectacle to watch!
Marine Drive Boat Race 2022
Gear up to watch the fifth snake boat race under Champions Boat League 2022 (CBL) held at Marine Drive waterfront on October 8, 2022. Tropical Titans (Pallathuruthy Boat Club, rowing Mahadevikad Kattil Thekkethil snake boat) topped the finals with a timing of 4 minutes 21 seconds, while Pride Chasers (Vembanad Boat Club, Payippad) finished second.
Kottappuram Boat Race 2022
The sixth race of the Champions Boat League (CBL-2) was held at Kottappuram in the Thrissur district. Tropical Titans (rowing Mahadevikad Kattil Thekkethil) emerged winner of the race, easily pushing Raging Rowers and Mighty Oars to the second and third positions, respectively.
Kainakary Boat Race 2022
Watch Kainakary Boat Race, the seventh leg of Champions Boat League (CBL) season II . Pallathuruthy Boat Club finished the race in 4:03.45 minutes. Nadubhagam Chundan rowed by NCDC Boat Club (Mighty Oars) and Champakulam Chundan rowed by Kerala Police Boat Club (Raging Rowers) clinched second and third spots respectively.
Pandanad Boat Race 2022
Smartly overtaking their arch-rivals Mighty Oars in the last ten metres, reigning champions Tropical Titans registered their fifth consecutive win in the ninth round of the Champions Boat League (CBL-2) held at Pandanad, while Raging Rowers finished third at one of the most spirited races in the IPL-style water event.
Kayamkulam Boat Race 2022
Nadgubhagam Chundan rowed by NCDC Boat Club (Mighty Oars) emerged victorious in the 10th round of Champions Boat League (CBL) season II held on Kayamkulam Lake at Kayamkulam, Alappuzha, on 12th November, 2022. Watch the video to discover more about the race!

Raging Rowers
Raging Rowers of the Champions Boat League is the pride of Kerala Police. The police club’s snake boat currently occupies the third position in the CBL. The name Raging Rowers may not be familiar to everyone, but the team is a favourite in Kerala and has a legion of fans. They are the mighty champions of Kuttanad. Their popular name is Champakulam Chundan.
Tropical Titans
Mahadevikadu Kattil Thekkethil, a team that has thrashed its opponents by huge margins, the team banks on the spirit of Kuttanad. The power of unity has turned even adversities into its advantage. Although it has only been a few years since its launch, the team has repeated victories in CBL-2.
Mighty Oars
Nadubhagam Chundan, the rightful heirs of the century-old Vallamkali history of Kerala and the winner of the first Nehru trophy in 1952. Nadubhagam in CBL is managed by the famous club NCDC Kumarakom. Watch the video to know more about this boat club!
